Taco Bell Franchisee Faces Fines

Taco Bell Franchisee Faces Fines for Employment of Underage Workers. The Los Angeles Times reports that a Taco Bell franchisee that owns 25 franchises has been fined over $75,000 for employing 14- and 15-year-old workers until four in the morning. The company employed some of the teenagers for 7.75 hours on a school day or 10 hours on a non-school day. Moreover, some of the students' records showed work weeks of 35 hours at the Taco Bell restaurants. Children aged 14 and 15 may work up to 18 hours per week and may only work 3 hours on a school day and eight hours on a non-school day. The Taco Bell franchisee is appealing the ruling.
