Women-Only Fitness Chains Expanding on Heels of Curves' Success. The Texas-based Slender Lady, Inc., franchisor of women-only circuit-training gyms, hopes to have 1,000 territories sold in the next 18 months, and Lady of America Franchise Corp., which franchises Ladies Workout Express, expects to have 1,000 operating units in the next five months and 2,500 by the end of 2005. Both companies are engaged in aggressive expansion and hope to compete with rival Curves for Women, which now has about 5,000 locations as reported by the Sacramento Business Journal.
