Quebec Class Action Against Blockbuster

The Globe and Mail reports that the trial in a class action suit against Blockbuster began yesterday in Montreal. The suit alleges that Blockbuster charged excessive penalties. Plaintiffs seek refund of all late fees plus a penalty of $100 per customer under Quebec provincial consumer protection laws. Blockbuster estimates that plaintiffs damages claim could amount to over $300 million.
