Domino’s Pizza faces a boycott in Michigan for its contribution to a campaign by Attorney General Mike Cox, called the “PayKids” initiative. According to Domino’s statement, the company donated pizza gift certificates to the Michigan Attorney General’s office and his foundation, which was “geared to helping ensure that non-custodial parents fulfill their obligations and pay child support.” The program, however, has come under increasing fire for the method in which it encourages cooperation from non-custodial parents. Specifically, the PayKids program recently announced a contest for kids to create a billboard asking their divorced parents to pay child support. Parents' rights groups immediately reacted calling for a boycott on Domino's.
Domino’s, however, claims that it was unaware of the billboard contest when it donated the coupons. In its statement, the company said “We do not have a political bias or an agenda. We simply want to sell pizza.”
