GNC Faces Antitrust Claims

Many franchisors can cite franchisee lawyers who have developed a pet practice around their franchise systems. For the GNC system, one New Jersey lawyer appears to have sunk his teeth into the company, filing lawsuits and starting a website for GNC franchisees. In a case filed yesterday on behalf of some GNC franchisees, GNC has been accused of violations of the New Jersey Franchise Practices Act and the Sherman Act for its alleged predatory pricing for goods sold directly by GNC and through Rite-Aid stores for lower prices than its franchisees can offer. This article on Yahoo.com was, of course, posted by the law firm that filed the suit.
