The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has filed an action against seven major fast-food chains, alleging that they are knowingly withholding information from consumers about the presence of a "dangerous carcinogenic compound," known as PhiP, in grilled chicken. The suit, which seeks relief under California's "Proposition 65," alleges that every sample of grilled chicken from the restaurant chains named in the action -- McDonald's, Burger King, Chik-fil-A, Chili's, Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse and TGI Friday's -- tested positive for PhiP in their analysis. The California Restaurant Association downplayed the allegations, stating that "The PCRM are anti-meat advocates who want to limit consumer choice and limit access to healthy dining options, which grilled chicken most definitely is."
