Hooters May Agree to Size Reduction in Exchange for Booze

Hooters

Troy, Michigan did not want to give a liquor license to a Hooters restaurant in the city, prompting the company, Hooters of America Inc., to sue in federal court. According to this article, the city apparently also disliked the proposed visibility of the Hooters, which city council members reportedly said “does not fit the image they want to project along the Big Beaver corridor.” The parties are therefore considering settling their differences by permitting the restaurant to obtain its liquor license in exchange for minimizing its signage. The proposed agreement must be approved by the city council, Hooters and the court and would end the $1 million lawsuit between Hooters and the city.
