More Trouble for Atlanta Bread

Atlanta Bread

According to this article, coming at the heels of Atlanta Bread Company’s principals’ guilty plea to a South African banking violation (and paying substantial fines in the face of accusations of swindling investors), the company has new legal troubles. Its Multi-Unit Franchisee of the Year from 2002-2004 has sued the company for $12 million for allegedly wrongfully terminating his franchise agreements and falsely accusing him of violating a non-compete agreement. The company alleges that the lawsuit is frivolous, prompting the franchisee’s lawyer to provide this interesting response: “I don’t file frivolous lawsuits, especially on contingency.” Now there’s a lawyer you can trust.
