There Will Be No Dunkin’ For You

These two articles point to a growing push by Dunkin’ Donuts to stop its franchisees’ hiring of undocumented workers. The franchisor has filed suits in Boston, Atlanta, Florida and New Jersey to terminate the franchise contracts of franchisees who hire illegals. In 2006, the chain became one of less than 1% of U.S. employers who voluntarily enrolled in the federal government’s “Basic Pilot” program, a web-based program sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security that allows employers to verify employment documents electronically.
