In a recent regulatory filing, tax preparer Jackson Hewitt disclosed that the IRS is now investigating the company and all of its franchisee and company-owned stores, widening a probe that first became public when the IRS filed lawsuits in April challenging allegedly fraudulent practices at more than 125 Jackson Hewitt locations in the Midwest and Southeast. The company said in a statement that they are cooperating with the IRS in the investigation, and that they plan to make any needed systems changes in time for the 2008 tax season.
